The full-scale LEGO McLaren Senna continues to make its global presence known from Windsor to a prominent showing at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking, England. As a LEGO builder myself, I was in awe of this spectacle which represents the second of three McLaren collaborations with the LEGO Group. During my winter visit to MTC I learned that you can sit in the 2019 track-focused sports car, flash the lights, and start and rev the engine since it’s aptly connected to a sound system.
Also, don’t forget that you can get discounted new car pricing with a free quote through qualified local dealer partners.
Replicating the brand’s latest LEGO Speed Champions set, the fully interactive build consists of 468,000+ bricks tied together by a steel structure and a 30-person master crew meticulously crafting for over 2,700+ hours. The finished Senna weighs slightly more than the actual car at 3,800 lbs. Named after legendary F1 driver Ayrton Senna, the LEGO variant features specific Pirelli P Zero Color Edition tires with orange sidewall graphics. Each piece was glued in place so there was no room for error or missteps.
The McLaren LEGO Group partnership began in 2015 with the LEGO Speed Champions McLaren P1 set. Next in line was the LEGO Speed Champions McLaren 720S and the featured LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Senna. Other strategic efforts incorporate the LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Elva and the 100% track-focused LEGO Technic McLaren Senna GTR generating 825PS. Moreover, to honor McLaren’s 60th anniversary, LEGO created the first-ever Speed Champion Double Pack for fans to experience. The collection features the LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Solus GT and McLaren F1 LM racing titans.
Whether home building the next level of McLaren and LEGO rides or visiting MTC to witness the LEGO McLaren Senna directly, you will walk away revering the technical acumen, innovative engineering, and revolutionary design imaginations of both inventive companies.
