Infiniti has made a bold move by replacing the V6 engine in the QX60 with a more compact yet potent 2.0-liter VC Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Typically, auto manufacturers reserve such powertrain changes for a model refresh or redesign, but Infiniti has decided not to wait. The current-generation QX60, which debuted in 2022, retains its familiar exterior and interior styling for the 2025 model year. However, the changes under the hood are quite significant.

The previous 3.5-liter V-6 engine has been swapped out for the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine found in the QX50 and QX55. This Variable Compression Turbo engine generates 268 horsepower, a slight decrease from the 295 horsepower produced by the outgoing V-6. Despite the drop in horsepower, Infiniti emphasizes the improved torque, which now stands at 286 pound-feet, an increase of 16 pound-feet over the previous model. The power continues to be delivered through a nine-speed automatic transmission, available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.

While the new engine produces slightly less power, it offers better fuel efficiency. The front-wheel-drive QX60 is EPA-rated at 22 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 24 mpg combined. The all-wheel-drive version is nearly as efficient, with a highway rating of 27 mpg.

In addition to the engine upgrade, Infiniti introduces a new Black Edition Package for the 2025 QX60. As the name suggests, this package includes various black trim elements, such as wheels, badges, and grilles, giving the SUV a sleek and modern look. Another new feature across all QX60 trims is an advanced key fob that automatically unlocks the vehicle when the driver approaches and locks it when they walk away. Furthermore, the mid-level Luxe trim now comes standard with a premium Bose 17-speaker stereo system.

Pricing for the 2025 Infiniti QX60 sees a slight increase. The base Pure model starts at $51,550, which is $550 more than the previous year. The top-of-the-line QX60 Autograph, now only available with all-wheel drive, is priced at $67,500, a modest $50 increase from the 2024 AWD model.

Infiniti’s decision to update the QX60’s powertrain and add new features while maintaining competitive pricing demonstrates their commitment to enhancing the driving experience and staying ahead in the competitive SUV market.
