The 2025 BMW 3 Series makes a grand entrance with a host of updates. From styling tweaks to engine enhancements and interior upgrades, this iconic compact luxury sedan continues to set the bar high. Here’s a closer look at what the new model year brings to the table.

Enhanced Engine Performance and Efficiency

BMW is introducing 48v mild-hybrid technology in the 330i and M340i models to boost engine response and fuel economy. This system is designed to provide additional power and improve overall efficiency. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in the 330i models now incorporates the Miller cycle combustion process and redesigned components to optimize performance without changing the power output, which remains at 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

The M340i and M340i xDrive models benefit from the same 48v mild-hybrid system, enhancing the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine’s performance. This setup delivers an extra 11 hp of electric boost, bringing the total output to 386 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. Power is transmitted through an eight-speed automatic transmission, providing a smooth and responsive driving experience.

The 2025 3 Series has undergone several chassis enhancements to maintain its reputation as a dynamic driving machine. BMW has introduced stiffer mountings for the rear dampers, improving handling precision and ride comfort. Additionally, the steering effort has been reduced in ‘Comfort’ mode, making everyday driving more enjoyable.

Fresh Exterior Design

While the 3 Series received a facelift in 2022, BMW has introduced four new exterior colors for 2025: Arctic Race Blue Metallic, Vegas Red Metallic, Frozen Pure Grey Metallic, and Frozen Portimao Blue. These colors add to the car’s aesthetic appeal and provide more customization options for buyers.

The M Sports package, standard on the M340i, now includes new 19-inch M wheels available in Jet Black or a bi-color finish. Additionally, a BMW Individual 19-inch wheel with a bi-color finish can be chosen for a unique look.

Interior Upgrades

The 2025 3 Series features a new steering wheel design across the lineup. The 330i comes with a two-spoke steering wheel with a polygonal rim, while the M340i boasts a sporty flat-bottomed three-spoke M steering wheel with a distinctive red 12 o’clock marker. Both designs include illuminated controls and gearshift paddles.

Interior materials have been upgraded to provide a more luxurious feel. The new Galvanic controls for window switches, air vent adjustment stalks, and the lock button add a touch of sophistication. The optional Senastec dashboard trim has been refined for a smoother finish and now includes decorative stitching in a contrasting color. Standard trim for the 330i includes fine-wood inlays, while the M340i features M Aluminum Rhombicle inlays, with additional options available.

Advanced Technology Features

The 2025 3 Series comes with the latest iDrive system with QuickSelect, based on Operating System 8.5. This system offers a more user-friendly interface, with a “flatter” menu structure that simplifies access to frequently used functions. The customizable display allows drivers to arrange widgets and features according to their preferences.

Climate controls have been streamlined, with adjustments now possible via voice command or the Curved Display touch screen. While some may miss the physical controls, the new system provides various ways to manage climate settings.

The standard BMW Live Cockpit Plus now offers a more intuitive navigation system. The optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional includes a head-up display and Augmented View for navigation, enhancing the driving experience with more immersive and informative displays.

Production of the 2025 BMW 3 Series for the American market is set to begin in August 2024 at BMW’s San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico. Pricing starts at $45,500, making this updated model an attractive option for luxury sedan enthusiasts.
