BMW recently unveiled the Concept Skytop, a limited-edition roadster designed to captivate enthusiasts with its unique style and exclusivity. The concept was introduced at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, an event known for showcasing elegant and innovative automotive designs. The Concept Skytop stands out with its sleek, minimalist design, reminiscent of a luxury M8 Convertible tailored for a 1920s-themed gala.
Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW Group’s design director, shared insights into the Concept Skytop during an interview with BMW Blog. Hooydonk, who leads a team of approximately 700 designers responsible for BMW, Mini, Rolls-Royce vehicles, BMW motorcycles, and various industrial design projects, highlighted the car’s potential for limited production. Unlike many of BMW’s concepts displayed at Villa d’Este, which usually end up in the company’s studio or museum, the Skytop was developed with street-legal components, hinting at the possibility of a production run.

Drawing from their experience with the 50-unit production of the 2023 3.0 CSL, BMW is considering a similar limited run for the Skytop. Each unit would be priced around $500,000, significantly less than the 3.0 CSL.
