Honda has introduced the latest iteration of its beloved Civic, boasting a revamped exterior and a groundbreaking hybrid powertrain. The standout feature lies beneath the sleek facade, where a new hybrid system resides, offered in two enticing trims: the Sport Hybrid and the top-tier Sport Touring Hybrid. This innovative powertrain melds impressive horsepower with remarkable fuel efficiency, marking a significant advancement for the Civic.

The hybrid variant introduces a potent combination of a dual e-motor setup complementing a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, delivering a formidable 200 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque. Surpassing the performance of the outgoing 1.5-liter turbocharged trims, Honda touts the hybrid’s acceleration prowess, positioning it as the most powerful non-Type-R Civic to date. Moreover, the hybrid is projected to achieve an exceptional combined EPA mileage rating nearing 50 mpg, showcasing a harmonious blend of performance and economy that eclipses previous Civic models.

Enhancements extend beyond the powertrain, with the suspension receiving tailored tuning to enhance ride quality and reduce noise. Notably, the hybrid trims boast the lowest NVH levels among all Civics, promising a refined driving experience. On the exterior, subtle refinements such as updated grille styling and body-colored accents distinguish the hybrid variant, while new color options refresh the Civic’s palette.

Inside, the hybrid models exude sophistication, featuring a gray interior palette and luxurious leather seats in the Sport Touring Hybrid trim. Technological upgrades include a premium 12-speaker stereo system and an enlarged 9-inch infotainment screen, accompanied by the integration of Google, a first for the Civic lineup.

Honda’s commitment to hybrid-electrification is evident by the Civic hybrid’s timely introduction, aligning with the brand’s vision of achieving 100 percent zero-emissions vehicle sales by 2040. With hybrid-electric models comprising a significant portion of Honda’s sales, the Civic hybrid emerges as a compelling addition to the electrified lineup, alongside the Accord hybrid, CR-V hybrid, and the forthcoming all-electric Prologue.

The updated 2025 Honda Civic is slated for June release. Available in sedan and hatchback configurations, the hybrid models, along with the LX and Sport non-electrified trims, promise a diverse range of options to cater to varying preferences. Pricing details are forthcoming, heightening anticipation for Honda’s latest automotive marvel.
