Ford is initiating a recall of more than 450,000 vehicles in the United States due to concerns over power loss resulting from a low battery issue, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The affected vehicles include certain models of compact SUVs and pickup trucks. The NHTSA has warned that an undetected low battery charge could lead to malfunctions in electrical accessories, such as hazard lights, and potentially result in a loss of drive power in the affected vehicles.

Specifically, the recall encompasses Bronco Sport SUVs produced between 2022 and 2024, as well as Maverick compact pickup trucks manufactured between 2022 and 2023, according to the auto safety regulator.

In response to the issue, Ford dealers will undertake recalibration of the body control and powertrain control modules at no cost to the vehicle owners, as outlined by the NHTSA. This proactive measure aims to address the identified concerns and ensure the continued safety and functionality of the affected vehicles on the road.
