Ford has introduced an exciting new option for the 2024 Ford Mustang lineup: matte clear film. This protective wrap, boasting a sleek satin finish, will be available for all variations of the Mustang coupe, including the EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse models. Starting tomorrow, customers can order this innovative addition for their Mustang in any color they desire. Convertible variants will also gain access to this option later in the year.
Expected to hit the roads as early as June, it appears that this matte clear film may be exclusively offered as a factory-installed option for new vehicles. When questioned about the possibility of retrofitting existing Mustangs, Ford clarified that the application of this film occurs before the vehicle reaches the dealership for delivery.
Also, don’t forget that you can get discounted new car pricing with a free quote through qualified local dealer partners.
The 2024 Mustang palette boasts an impressive array of 12 colors, including unique options like Atlas Blue, Yellow Splash, and Dark Matter. Notably, the Dark Horse model offers the exclusive Blue Ember Metallic, now complemented by the availability of a graphic delete option.
However, opting for the matte clear film does come with some trade-offs. Customers choosing this protective wrap sacrifice the option for standard hood accent stripes and painted racing stripes. Additionally, certain packages like the GT California Special and optional graphics packages are unavailable when selecting this upgrade.
Priced at $5,995, the matte clear film option aligns with the cost of similar protective wraps available in the market. Backed by a three-year 36,000-mile warranty, the film, crafted by PPG Industries, promises durability against various elements including harsh detergents, road salt, and bird droppings.
Laurie Transou, Chief Program Engineer for the Mustang, expressed excitement about the new option, highlighting how it enhances Mustang’s legacy of driving freedom and self-expression. With the introduction of the Matte Clear Film, Ford aims to offer customers yet another avenue to personalize their Mustang experience.
