Last year I thought I had stumbled upon one of my greatest discoveries confirming that the VW Golf R was headed for the United States. It was too good to be true as I had to double check my sources. Anyhow, it still has not been confirmed if the new VW Golf R will arrive in the states any time soon but it is looking very promising.

The new 265-hp 2011 Volkswagen Golf R shown in the snow below would be the newest and hottest pocket rocket to hit our streets, something we have been longing for. The 2011 VW Golf R is due out this year first arriving in Ellmau, Austria. We have yet to hear back from Volkswagen to confirm if it will go on sale in the States this year.
Underneath the Golf R’s skin you will find a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged 4-cyl engine that may replace any desires that we had for the similar VW Scirocco which we will not get in the US either. 0-60mph times should be around 5.5 seconds with the optional DSG transmission directing power through all 4-wheels via a new Haldex AWD system. We will have to keep our fingers crossed hoping VW will bring this bad-boy here to the US. This time I am 75% sure it will come to the US this time.
