Ford Motor Company has initiated a significant recall affecting a substantial number of vehicles. Specifically, the recall targets approximately 870,701 units of their popular 2021-2023 F-150 trucks. The reason behind this precautionary measure is the potential risk of an unforeseen activation of the electric parking brake. The recall currently effects only F-150s with a single exhaust system, which may result in parking brake wiring harness to come in contact with the rear axle housing damaging the wires and activating the parking brake unexpectedly.

So far, Ford has received 918 warranty claims for the wire chafing. Of those claims, 299 reported the electric parking brake activated unintentionally where 19 of them were activated while driving.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) made this information available to the public via its official website today. The unexpected activation of the electric parking brake could pose safety concerns for drivers and other road users, prompting Ford to take proactive steps to address the issue promptly.
