The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E is receiving price cuts, up to $4,000, alongside battery updates and improved range. The Mach-E, Ford’s all-electric SUV inspired by the iconic Mustang, has been gaining popularity since its introduction, and these updates are expected to make it even more appealing to potential buyers.

Ford has made significant advancements in its battery technology, enabling the company to improve the Mach-E’s range. Mainly, new battery packs look to use a new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry instead of nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) found in older versions of the long-range Mach-E.

The base Standard Range model now offers an extended driving distance, allowing owners to travel further on a single charge, now 250 miles instead of 247 with the all-wheel-drive model adding two miles of range. This improvement is likely to address one of the common concerns among electric vehicle (EV) buyers, making the Mach-E a more viable option for longer trips and reducing range anxiety. LFP batteries will charge about 5 minutes quicker to 80%, have a longer lifespan with less degradation over time, and could be generally safer as LFP chemistry is less prone to fires and the awful runaway burnout of many other EV batteries.

In addition to the battery update, Ford is also implementing price cuts across the Mach-E lineup. The specific details of the price reductions may vary depending on the trim level and options chosen, but these adjustments will ultimately make the Mach-E more affordable for consumers. Lowering the price point could potentially attract more customers who were hesitant due to budget constraints, further expanding the market reach of the electric Mustang.

The price cuts come as part of Ford’s ongoing efforts to make electric vehicles more accessible to a wider range of consumers. As the demand for EVs continues to grow, automakers are increasingly focused on making these vehicles more affordable and competitive in the market. Ford’s decision to reduce the price of the Mach-E demonstrates its commitment to this trend and its recognition of the importance of price competitiveness in driving widespread adoption of electric vehicles.
