2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is the latest to join the fleet of new electric vehicles (EVs) from General Motors utilizing the Ultium platform.

From its long past roots in 1969 as a vehicle that helped usher in truck-based SUVs, the Chevrolet Blazer has evolved greatly since. In recent years the Blazer hasn’t exactly garnered as much attention as some would have hoped. However, things are taking a drastic turn with Chevrolet stunning the world with a new Blazer EV today that is not only electrifying but also quite powerful with its top-level SS trim touting 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque giving it the ability to hit 60 mph in under 4 seconds.

The new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV comes out of the gates offering four trim levels (1LT, 2LT, RS, SS) with several powertrain choices. Chevrolet hasn’t released the power figures for the Blazer except for the range-topping SS model. What we do know is the drive configuration and range for each trim.

The new Blazer EV 1LT only comes in a front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup with a range of 247 miles on a full charge. The 2LT trim will have up to 293 miles of range with the option of all-wheel-drive (AWD) over its standard FWD setup while the RS trim gets standard RWD and the availability of AWD and up to 320 miles of range. The Blazer EV SS model with its 557 horsepower will have standard AWD and up to 290 miles of range.

There’s an obvious sporty theme with the new Blazer EV with a distinction of each trim having its own unique front facia and wheel choice. The LT trims gets 19-inch wheels whereas the RS gets larger 21-inch rollers and 22-inchers are reserved for the SS trim along with other unique exterior treatments to set it apart with aggressive sporty looks.

Inside, the new 2024 Chevy Blazer EV will make use of the versatility of its EV platform providing additional space over its gas-burning predecessor. There’s a large 17.7-inch OLED touchscreen and an 11-inch digital gauge cluster that may be paired with a 3×7-inch heads-up display that comes standard on the SS trim but optional on the 2LT and RS trims.

There are special treatments inside that are given to the RS and SS trims starting with a flat-bottom steering wheel and round Camaro-style climate vents.

The new Blazer EV will have a hands-free start feature much like you find in Tesla where you can just jump in and go after closing the door and pressing the brake if you have the key fob inside the vehicle. There’s also one-pedal driving that can be activated and regenerative braking adjustments made on the fly through steering wheel shift paddles. To have a little fun there’s a Wide Open Watts (WOW) feature, which is the equivalent of the Watts To Freedom (WTF) launch and max-power mode found on the new GMC Hummer EV. Super Cruise comes standard on the Blazer EV SS and optional on the lower trims.

Charging the new 2024 Chevy Blazer EV should be a quick endeavor that somewhat varies depending on the battery pack option that changes with each trim level. Chevrolet has said that using a DC public fast-charger the Blazer EV will have the ability of up to 190 kW, which will add about 78 miles of range in 10 minutes.

The new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV will be on the market in dealerships during the summer of 2023 with the 2LT and RS trims initially available starting at a price of $47,595 and $51,995, respectfully. The SS trim starting at $65,995 and base level LT1 at $44,995 will be available before the end of 2023.

A police pursuit Blazer EV will come later as a modified version of the SS trim touting an even bigger battery pack, Brembo brakes, and a choice of RWD or AWD.
