Once again, we’ve managed to preview another electric vehicle. This time, our preview is a new luxury sedan from Genesis, the new Genesis Electrified G80.
The 2023 Genesis G80 EV sedan embodies most of what we like in the current gas-powered G80 sedan and serves as a launching ground for forthcoming EV vehicles under the luxury brand.

What we see here is mostly adorned with sheet metal that matches its gas-powered sibling, the current G80. In knowing the Genesis G80 EV will retain the looks of the current G80, reception of the new EV won’t be as hard. What will be a change is how the G80 is powered, which will be by motors that can power all four wheels or just the rear wheels good for 364 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. That should give the G80 EV sedan enough grunt to dash to 60 mph from a standstill in about 4.9 seconds.
As far as range, the G80 EV is speculated to get 300 miles per charge by the current NEDC standards, which is the “New European Driving Cycle” standard that assesses the emission levels and driving cycles of vehicles based on typical usage in Europe.
The EV market is gearing up, literally, to make an electrified entrance into the mainstream market and the G80 EV will be one of the very first to light up the stage for luxury buyers well under the six-figure price mark. While details of the new G80 EV are very limited at the moment, we do know that Genesis plans on introducing the new EV sedan spring of 2022. We hope to find out more as time progresses and the interest in EVs naturally grows. Until then, envision a near-future of the 2023 Genesis G80 EV joining the lineup with a starting price of around $60,000.
Genesis is now allowing you to “stay informed” of the Genesis G80 EV sedan through their website to receive updates and ordering information when it is made available.
