The Chevrolet Corvette has been a long-time staple as the formidable American sports car and champion to many endurance races over many years. Currently, the new Corvette C8 is touted as the best bang for your buck in terms of performance and the countless price mark-ups are evident of Chevrolet having something truly special in the very first production mid-engine Corvette.
As many have said, the new C8 Corvette will only get better with the forthcoming Z06 model, we’re here to reiterate such a claim as we expect to see the new 2023 Z06 with a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank V8 engine that revs close to 9,000 rpm and makes over 600 horsepower. The transmission duties should be similar to what we have now in the “standard” Corvette C8 having an 8-speed automated dual-clutch unit that will get an even better launch control management system to better the 2.7 seconds it takes to hit 60 mph from a standstill. Essentially, we will expect a version of the engine found in the Corvette C8.R race car only with more power.
We can listen closely to the sound of the new Corvette C8 Z06 in the video clip that Chevrolet released weeks ago, and some “experts” will tell you that it does sound like a flat-plane-crank almost reminiscent of some Ferrari V8 engines.

The Corvette Z06 has traditionally been known to be a beast for its time in all generations it was introduced and sometimes bridging the gap between the Corvette ZR1 when Chevrolet was bold enough to offer the highest level of Corvette performance for four special generations.
We also expect styling for the new Corvette C8 Z06 to be hardcore and elevate what some believe to be a controversial topic for the current Corvette C8 Stingray. In the area of design, we look to countless renderings drawn up to add carbon fiber bits that are all functional to aid in the area of performance for better cooling and downforce making track duties a commonplace theme for the Z06. Additionally, there will be a big rear wing, a wider track, and potentially a new exit area for the exhaust next to an aggressive rear defuser.
From all that I have experienced in the new Corvette C8 Stingray, I can attest to the upcoming Z06 being an American marvel that will not disappoint. Let’s just hope it looks a little better and more fitting for the full-on exotic experience for those of us that aren’t fully convinced that the new C8 looks “good.”
We expect the new Corvette Z06 C8 to be fully revealed “this Fall” and should arrive in 2022 with a price that starts around $85,000. We will be sure to share additional information if there are any changes or official reveals here on Automotive Addicts.
