Car shows are always enjoyable and the idea of rain putting a damper on one is always in the back of the minds of those who own vehicles that they just can’t afford to get wet. Some folks think that car enthusiasts have gone too far to protect their works of art from a little rain. Though, some would argue how painstaking it is to clean a “show car” after it has been in a nice rain shower, especially when it is cruising through the salty beach air and streets of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

We attended the 2014 Ponte Vedra Auto Show as a participant entering our 2002 BMW M3. As usual, the show was spectacular, drawing a decently-sized crowd from the surrounding areas including those residing deep into Jacksonville, FL and other surrounding towns. There was a spectacle of about 160 or more vehicles in the show lacing the TPC Sawgrass parking lots as the awards ceremony later took place at the TPC Clubhouse back lawn. Vehicles ranged from many classics, hotrods, exotics and polished every-day sports cars. At the show you can find just about everything, from a 1954 Jaguar XJ120 and a 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT to a glore of Ford Mustangs with a couple Shelby GT350s, and many Porsche 911s from just about every generation.
The show is put on by St. John’s Chamber of Commerce with the help of show director Sandy Kavanaugh and Bill Hughes at TPC Sawgrass. Brumos as the primary sponsor, a household name in local Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and professional racing, the Ponte Vedra Auto Show has grown into a welcomed venue now in its 12th year. We were able to capture many photographic moments including those of Magnus Walker, the Urban Outlaw himself recognized as the world’s most prized restorer of Porsche 911s, truly a legend in the automotive world for our current generation.
