2015 Toyota Prius Plug-In

The quest for excellent gas mileage and alternative energy cars continues. This week I am reviewing a Clearwater Blue Metallic 2014 Toyota Prius Plug-in. Total range is 540 miles, all-electric MPGe is 95, and it maintains the regular Prius’ 50 mpg combined rating.

Some initial thoughts on the 2014 Toyota Prius plug-in:

#1 Amazingly efficient. I’ve driven the car more than any other press car I have had and I still have a 1/4 tank of gas left. I averaged about 55 mpg for the week. I only used the plug-in option once.

#2 Really solid on the highway, especially for a compact. The weight of the batteries makes the car feel like a much bigger vehicle.

#3 You sit up nice and high, especially in the back seat. Makes for great visibility, especially considering the extra window in the hatch.

#4 This is not a car for people who are looking for performance, especially in the area of acceleration. It is not built for that and if you are light footed, the car rewards you with incredible gas mileage. The brakes are decent and the car does handle pretty well though, I am sure that the low center of gravity that the batteries create helps with the latter.

And finally…

#5 The electric AC compressor is fantastic in Florida! Pretty much instant cold air when you jump in the car.
