The 2025 Honda Prologue EV Quietly Levels Up with More Power and Range at the Same Price

In an era where rising costs have become the norm, Honda is doing something refreshingly unexpected with its all-electric Prologue. For 2025, the Prologue not only gets a noticeable boost in power and driving range, but it does so without inflating its price tag — aside from a modest $55 increase in destination fees. That makes the updated Prologue an even stronger value in the increasingly competitive EV landscape.

This thoughtful upgrade comes as Honda’s first mass-market electric SUV continues to make waves, outselling every General Motors EV in 2024 despite being built on GM’s Ultium platform. In fact, the Prologue earned the title of best-selling non-Tesla EV in the U.S. during the final quarter of 2024 — no small feat in today’s EV market.

What’s New for 2025?

For its sophomore model year, the 2025 Honda Prologue gets a revamped front power unit that adds extra horsepower and torque across the lineup. The single-motor, front-wheel-drive variants now produce 220 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque, up from 212 hp and 236 lb-ft. Meanwhile, dual-motor, all-wheel-drive versions step up to 300 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque, gains of 12 hp and 25 lb-ft over the previous model year.

Those bumps in power also come with added range. The Prologue EX and Touring trims with single-motor setups now boast an EPA-estimated 308 miles, a 12-mile improvement over 2024. AWD versions see similar gains, with up to 294 miles of range, while the top-trim Elite offers 283 miles on a full charge.

No Price Hike (Sort Of)

Despite these worthwhile upgrades, Honda is keeping the Prologue’s pricing steady for 2025. The base EX starts at $47,400 (plus a $1,450 destination fee), and with the still-available $7,500 federal EV tax credit, buyers can see that price dip to $39,900 — assuming they act before any potential policy changes.

Here’s how the 2025 Prologue lineup breaks down:

Trim Drive Price (Before Incentives) Range Power
EX Single Motor (2WD) $47,400 308 miles 220 hp / 243 lb-ft
EX Dual Motor (AWD) $50,400 294 miles 300 hp / 355 lb-ft
Touring Single Motor (2WD) $51,700 308 miles 220 hp / 243 lb-ft
Touring Dual Motor (AWD) $54,700 294 miles 300 hp / 355 lb-ft
Elite Dual Motor (AWD) $57,900 283 miles 300 hp / 355 lb-ft

Charging Made Easy

Whether you’re charging at home or on the go, Honda aims to make the Prologue experience as painless as possible. Every purchase comes with your choice of three comprehensive charging packages, ranging from home charger installation credits to public charging credits with networks like EVgo and Electrify America.

For example, buyers can choose a Level 2 home charging station with a $500 installation credit or opt for up to $750 in public charging credits if they rely more on fast chargers. Honda also throws in 60 kWh of free charging at Electrify America stations for every new Prologue owner.

DC fast charging speeds are solid, with the ability to add about 65 miles of range in just 10 minutes thanks to its 150 kW charging capacity.

Should You Buy Now?

While the 2025 Prologue is a better vehicle than before, its future faces some uncertainty. Some reports have claimed that Honda recently asked GM to slow production, likely due to an oversupply on dealer lots and possible concerns over tariffs or the potential rollback of federal EV tax credits under shifting political winds. With the Prologue built in Mexico, any new import tariffs could further complicate pricing down the road.

Honda is already looking to its future, with plans to launch its own in-house EV platform out of Ohio by 2026. However, the Prologue — along with its Acura ZDX sibling — remains the brand’s flagship EV for now.

So, if you’ve been eyeing the Prologue, now might be a smart time to buy or lease. Attractive incentives are still in place, and the improvements for 2025 only strengthen the case for Honda’s all-electric SUV. Whether it’s the upgraded range, the bump in power, or just the security of owning a well-equipped and thoughtfully designed EV from a trusted brand, the Prologue proves that sometimes, you can get more for your money — even in today’s market.
