Sonoma Valley and the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) were the perfect test beds to explore the power and prestige of the 2025 Aston Martin DBX707. But I didn’t come to the lush lands and rolling hills to tour vineyards and sample fine wine. My goal was to put Aston Martin’s exceptional piece of machinery through various engagements on Northern California’s adventurous canyon roads. Mission accomplished!

As the creator of opulent sports cars and 4-door sport utility vehicles, the British automaker from the parish of Gaydon in Warwickshire, England builds vehicles that produce unadulterated performance. Additionally, Aston Martins are known for gorgeous cabins and breathtaking silhouettes with bold character traits. Dubbed the supercar of SUVs by company insiders, interested parties should cross-shop with the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, and Audi RS Q8.

Aston Martin chief engineer Andy Tokley, who was in attendance during the media drive event, explained the goal of making the DBX707 ergonomically friendly; for example, moving the gear selector to the center console. However, don’t expect a traditional full-size shifter since Aston Martin has gone with a smaller tab shifter. Another significant change to the DBX707 is the intuitive 10.25” infotainment system and larger 12″ driver instrument cluster that serve as the brains of the technologically overhauled cockpit, which provides simpler operation of the navigation, audio, and vehicle settings. Other modifications include suspension software tuning, 360-degree cameras, a wider tailgate spoiler, an enriched exhaust system, steering wheel calibrations, and OTA (over-the-air) software updates. Lastly, an audiophile-quality 23-speaker Bowers and Wilkins audio system with beautiful stainless steel speaker grilles turns your DBX707 into a concert hall.

We set the tone early with a morning drive from Healdsburg to the ocean while blazing along the PCH in a vibrant Supernova Red DBX707. The optional carbon fiber exterior package is a must-have for both styling and added dynamics. It incorporates a savvy carbon fiber chin spoiler, mirror caps, side blades, rocker panels, and a heavily pronounced rear diffuser that sits below the quad exhaust tips. A black glass roof contrasted the Supernova Red hue. Other visually appealing color palettes include Cosmopolitan Yellow, Photon Lime, and Synapse Orange.

The British SUV’s temperament is set off by a fast-reacting 9-speed wet clutch transmission (with elongated aluminum shift paddles) and hand-built Mercedes-AMG 4-liter twin-turbo V8 pumping out 697-horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Aston Martin fine-tunes the engine for its preferred performance style. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 193 mph. The DBX707’s weight distribution is almost balanced at 52/48.

The DBX707’s massive carbon ceramic braking system will bring you to a halt from high speeds when required. It is entrusted by 6-piston front calipers and 16.5” rotors and in the rear 15.4” rotors. Optional staggered Pirelli P-Zero summer tires (285/35ZR23 and 325/30ZR23) wrap around 23×10” front / 23×11.5” rear forged rims. Thanks to a sophisticated AWD system, a rear electronic limited-slip differential capable of sending 100% of the torque to the rear axle, and a triple chamber air suspension with adaptive damping, the DBX707 remained planted during energetic accelerations and aggressive maneuvering. It stayed calm, confident, and resilient on the corkscrew roads. With this level of motorsports energy under the hood, you will remain eternally youthful whenever you take your DBX707 out for a spin.

Inside the cabin, notice a mint layout and control center. The flat-bottom steering wheel is thick and sporty and upgraded tuning provides direct feedback. Our All Spicy Red Semi-Aniline leather interior (including the dash) was too much, but owners can select standard colors to balance the décor, such as Onyx Black Semi-Aniline. Selectable Dynamic Drive modes–Terrain, Individual, GT, Sport, and Sport+–let you control the various levels of the DBX707’s performance. In GT mode the DBX707’s acceleration is relaxed and gradual and in Sport+ mode, super aggressive. In this case, I took advantage of Sport for enthusiastic driving while delightfully watching the digital speedometer climb. Cornering agility is impressive and the venerable braking system is pinpoint.

With a starting MSRP of $249,000 ($342,600 total), the Aston Martin DBX707 is a perfect high-end SUV for business or pleasure. It is handsome, extraordinarily capable, and commands attention when flying by with the exhaust flaps fully open. Bred from a 111-year history, Aston Martins achieve unimaginable feats on the road and on the track.
