2025 Nissan Frontier Receives Welcomed Updates

Nissan has decided to give the Frontier some much-needed attention to keep the midsized pickup truck relevant and fresh. Three years after its debut, the 2025 Frontier is receiving a variety of updates, heavily influenced by customer feedback. One significant change is the expanded availability of the Crew Cab with a six-foot bed. Previously, only the SV trim offered this option, while other trims came with a shorter, just-under-five-foot bed. For 2025, the six-foot bed will be available on the SV, Pro-4X, and SL trims, leaving only the base S and the high-end Hardbody trims without this option. Notably, the Pro-4X will require a 4×4 setup to include the long bed, while the SV trim continues to offer it regardless of drivetrain.

In terms of performance, the 2025 Frontier sees a boost in towing capacity, with every trim now able to tow an additional 500 pounds, bringing the maximum capacity up to 7,150 pounds from the previous 6,640 pounds available with the SV King Cab 4×2.

Aesthetic updates are also part of the package. The Pro-4X, in particular, features a new grille design above a black crosspiece, replacing the previous body-colored one, along with redesigned front side intakes that now integrate with the fog lamps. Both the Pro-X and Pro-4X trims sport new tailgate finishers, and a fresh exterior color, Afterburn Orange, is added to the lineup. Additionally, a new 17-inch wheel design is available for these trims.

Interior improvements, although not extensive, aim to enhance the driving experience. All trims now come with a standard tilt and telescoping steering wheel, a sliding rear window, and a sunglass holder in the overhead console. The SV trim upgrades to 17-inch alloy wheels. A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is available on all trims except the base S, offering a more contemporary feel. The six-way powered driver’s seat now includes power lumbar support, and higher trims like the Pro and SL add a four-way power passenger seat. The SL trim also benefits from a surround-view monitor, wireless phone charging, and an optional interior package featuring leather seats, a Fender 10-speaker audio system, and LED exterior lighting. Enhanced interior styling, including contrast stitching and trim pieces, further elevates the cabin’s ambiance.

For off-road enthusiasts, the Pro-4X trim now offers off-road camera functionality at speeds up to 12 miles per hour.

The powertrain remains unchanged, with the 3.8-liter V6 engine producing 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 2025 Nissan Frontier will begin arriving at dealerships later this summer, though initially, only trims above the base S will be available. The sliding rear window will be introduced to the lineup in December. Pricing details will be announced closer to the release date.
