The 2025 Ford Maverick has received several welcomed updates, making this popular compact pickup even more appealing to a broad range of drivers. The most notable change is the introduction of an all-wheel-drive (AWD) trim for the 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain, which enhances the vehicle’s towing and payload capacities to rival the more robust EcoBoost model. In addition to this, the Maverick now comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and a redesigned front fascia, further boosting its modern appeal.

Customer feedback played a crucial role in the decision to offer an AWD option for the hybrid model, and Ford has delivered. The powertrain remains the same, with the Atkinson-cycle inline-four engine paired with a single electric motor, producing a combined 191 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. This setup continues to be mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

The addition of powered rear wheels, along with an optional 4K towing package, increases the Maverick’s towing capacity by 2,000 pounds, reaching a total of 4,000 pounds—comparable to the 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder model. However, it’s worth noting that the payload capacity of the AWD hybrid Maverick drops slightly to 1,400 pounds from the previous 1,500 pounds.

For 2025, the Maverick is available in four trims: XL, XLT, Lariat, and Tremor. The first three trims come standard with the hybrid powertrain, while the Tremor exclusively features the 238-horsepower EcoBoost engine. The other trims also offer the option to upgrade to the 2.0-liter engine, which delivers a robust 277 pound-feet of torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. AWD is standard with the EcoBoost engine.

From a design perspective, the 2025 Maverick showcases a refreshed grille and distinctive fang-shaped headlights. Inside, a new 13.2-inch touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, providing seamless connectivity. Additionally, a 360-degree camera and onboard 5G modem enable over-the-air updates, keeping the technology current.

Pricing for the 2025 Maverick starts at $27,890 for the front-drive hybrid model, including destination charges. Ford anticipates an EPA rating of 42 miles per gallon in the city for the front-drive hybrid and 40 mpg for the AWD hybrid. Deliveries are expected to commence in late 2024, offering consumers a versatile and efficient compact pickup with the latest features and enhancements.

As Ford continues to innovate and respond to customer demands, the 2025 Maverick stands out as a versatile and tech-forward option in the compact pickup market, ready to tackle both urban commutes and weekend adventures with equal ease.
